Agnija, Born of Fire

Inspired by the termite mounds/ant hills frequently seen in southern India, Bhat created this hybrid, biomorphic form. The cathedral mounds have chimney structures resembling ancient pottery kilns. Bhat incorporated some of these elements by creating internal structures, and cross sections imagining the path of the fire during the firing process/performance. This project emerges from a long-term contemplation on the interdependency of species.
